This engaging activity, developed by Chuck Downing, addresses ecology and biodiversity through cooperative learning. Seven groups of students work together to complete a biome jigsaw puzzle. Each group also receives a bag of 30 cards describing one world biome. Students use the number and types of organisms described on the cards to determine which biome they have and to investigate various aspects of that biome’s biodiversity.
