Physics Educational Materials

VWR offers a complete catalog of instruments and tools useful for demonstrating key, basic concepts of physics that are applicable to everyday life both in and out of the laboratory. Demonstrate core ideas such as acceleration down a plane, friction, potential and kinetic energy, electrical conductivity, magnetic fields, wavelengths and velocity of sound, and more. Durable educational materials are designed for heavy use with consistent levels of handling, and all models are easy to use.

Catalog Number: (470338-884)

Description:   Vividly demonstrate Newton's concept of inertia.
Catalog Number: (470007-462)

Description:   Power three different solar vehicles — a solar speed boat, an air boat, and a surface submarine — using only the power of the sun. Build three vessels out of your recycled plastic beverage bottles then power them with the sun using the included 1/2 watt, waterproof solar panel. You can build a solar speed boat, an air boat, and a surface submarine. No batteries required.
Catalog Number: (470165-140)

Description:   Experiment with gear ratios on your wind turbine or other small projects. Adding gears to your turbine can greatly increase the generator RPM, giving you higher power output. The small 8-tooth gear fits on 2 mm driveshafts that are found on many DC generators. The gears have a keying feature that allows them to be changed quickly and easily using the included hex locks. The hex lock secures to our 9/64 inch hex-driveshaft. Hex-driveshaft not included.
Description:   Great for studying the simple harmonic motion of a torsional pendulum.
Catalog Number: (470163-908)

Description:   Bring the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics to life.
Description:   Determine and investigate the current and voltage on a Lecher line.
Catalog Number: (470339-770)

Description:   Demonstrate how electric coils can be used to power a bell.
Catalog Number: (470006-578)

Description:   A diffraction grating with 5400 lines per cm is mounted in a 5Ă—5 cm mounting frame.<BR>The diffraction grating exposed is one square inch.
Catalog Number: (470230-316)

Description:   Demonstrates observation of polarity.
Catalog Number: (470221-512)

Description:   Read the funny story of two inquisitive kids and build simple models of the vehicles they encounter on their comical trip to the supermarket with their dad.
Description:   Explore several aspects of electricity and magnetism with this hand on kit.

Description:   Teach your students about gear ratios and different gear configurations and how these concepts are used to change the amount of applied force to an object.
Catalog Number: (470212-494)

Description:   Students learn how the length, tension, and mass of a string affect the frequency of a standing wave in this engaging demo.
Catalog Number: (470219-422)

Description:   Mounted on molded plastic base, the unit consists of a base into the top of which may be screwed one of a set of four vases of differing shapes. An aperture in the bottom has a thin rubber diaphragm across it, bearing upon the short arm of the lever pointer. A moveable index on the vertical rod enables the height of water in vases to be set at same level. The apparatus is mounted on moulded plastic base that measures 25 x 17.5cm. The experiment is performed by screwing in each vase, in turn, and filling with water to the same level. It will be seen that the given height of water will result in the same deflection of pointer whatever shape of the vase.

Description:   Simple tool to explore the thermal properties of matter.
Catalog Number: (470339-036)

Description:   Investigate the wavelength of sound on an open end tube.
