Visually demonstrate various concentration types.
- Illustrate concept of concentration
- Relate concentrations of pollutants to real-world issues
- Use these tools to suit your own curriculum goals
A traditionally difficult concept to visualize, parts per million becomes crystal clear with these two clever teaching aids that illustrate concepts of concentration, ppm, and environmental pollutants. The PPM Concentration Bottle contains one million blue beads, but only one colored bead. Other colored beads represent 10 ppm, 100 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1%, and 10% concentrations in addition to blue beads that represent the solvent. When your students start to look for the 1 ppm and 10 ppm beads, they will see first-hand that these values are extremely small.
The 'Needle in a Haystack' bottle contains one colored bead and all blue beads.
The two bottle set and PPM concentrations bottle each come with student activities. The individual Needle in a Haystack bottle does not.
