Description:   Demonstrate the Stirling Design External Combustion Engine with our 18×11 cm working model. The Stirling engine currently is being re-examined as a practical source of power because of its adaptability to almost any fuel. First produced in the 1800’s as a non-electric fan and an automatic hot air water pump, the engine soon became obsolete due to its lack of sufficient power when compared to the newly developed combustion engine. Any fuel can be used with our model, but denatured alcohol is suggested for clean operation.

Description:   This working model thermostat will demonstrate how differential expansion is used to control temperature. A bimetallic strip is used to open or close an electric circuit when temperature changes. The contacts will carry about three amperes. The unit can be operated with a 6 V lantern battery, low voltage power supply, or a blow dryer. Mounted on a metal base; approximately 15 cm high.
